FEAR! Coming face to face with your fear!

Normally I complete everyday task without fear. I drive to work without fear. I meet new people everyday without fear. I help people make major life choices without fear. This all changed a little last week. I was entertaining myself and Sasha (my dog) when I decided that I should get caught up on laundry. As I walked into the laundry room I noticed a long, thin, gross thing crawling away. That gross thing was a snake. Yes, a snake in the home where I live. YIKES! What is a girl to do when one of the things that she fear most in life in crawling around in her favorite room in the house. Ok, the laundry room is not my favorite room in the house. But I like to clean and I get frustrated when the laundry pile get more than two loads high in the hamper. So I called my roommate the owner of the house. Dear friend of mine, you have a snake in the laundry room. After screaming like a little girl for a little bit I came to reason. I would buy tons of those sticky traps; place them all over the room with the hope that the evil snake would stick to the trap. And then I realized that I would have to enter that room to place the traps. Enter my good friend Lis. She helped me place the traps; we when saw the small evil one. The next day when I came home from work I checked some of the traps. I was afraid to check the ones in the back of the laundry room. Lis offered to help. Well the little evil one was stuck to the trap. After many bloody screams and high pitch laughs Lis and I manged to get the still moving snake into the trash can and out to the curb.

When though I go though normal activities without fear of evil. I was able to get past my fear and face evil head on with the support of my friend. That's what being about of a faith community is all about for me. Knowing that I can call upon a friend when I am in fear and have to face evil. And for that I thank God for my faith community that offers me support. Even when it comes to snakes!

http://www.kcharmony.org/Walk.htm

Check out the KC Harmony link above for my information.

Join me at Theis which is located at Oak Street and 47th Street in Kansas City, Mo just off the Plaza. Event parking is located at the Kauffman Center at 4801 Rockhill Road. Please make plans to meet me at the volunteer tent at 3pm. You have the opportunity to volunteer at the event (passing out water, setting up food, handing out t-shirts and clean-up) and you can walk the 3 miles. This is a great event for the whole family. It looks like Sunday afternoon will be nice and sunny. You can either leave when you are done walking or once you are done volunteering which could be around 5pm. If you bring a pledge of any amount you get a t-shirt!!!! And any youth who ask me I will give you a $2pledge!!! When you arrive at the volunteer tent on Sunday I will collect the pledges for our group. So far we have $50 from one donor!!!! Call my cell phone if you need anything. I will arrive early to help out. If anyone would like to go early with me you can have lunch with me after church and then we will head that way. Hot 103.3 will be doing a live remote from the walk and before the walk you will be entertained by African Drummers and the Kansas City Sizzlers dance team!!!

It's been way to long...since I have

Time flies when you are having fun; and fun I have been having. A little over a week ago my aunt returned from Iraq. What a homecoming we had. I enjoyed hearing her stories; hearing the bravery and fear in her voice. It was all so over whelming. And this week I have been spending time with my niece in Lantana, Texas. WOW, I never knew that a 5 year old would take so much of my energy. Well with being busy with family time I have not posted on this blog for sometime. Shame on me; the deal was that I would post at least once a week.

What have you not done in a while?
Watched your feet-gross I hope not
Called a friends-I love catching up with friends
Shopping-I found some good sales in Texas
Watch college football-I listened to the KU football game on line as I watched the KSU game on TV. Yikes, I think that KSU could have won that one. O-Well my team won.
Prayed? That's OK, it's never to late to start again. Praying brings me comfort and peace. This week I found great joy in teaching my niece Abbie different prayers to say before bed and at meals. So if you are 5, 15, 25 or 35 or somewhere in between it is never to late to start praying. It is really simple, you are having a conversation with God. expressing your joys, concerns and thanks. Just let it flow; we all have something to say and God is waiting to hear from you.
