The Power of the Post-It Note

The post-it, who can live without it? Invented in 1968 they are a staple office supply. I go through countless post-its in a given day I don't think twice about using them. That all changed this last Sunday. As I was preparing for the start of a busy day; my roommate told me that we had visitors last night. I had no idea what to expect as I opened the front door. I should say try to open the front door. Someone (several someones) had wrapped lime green yarn around the tree, around the front door, around the garage door hook and then around my car!!! At least they used lime green yarn; one of my youth groups colors. And then my eyes glanced at my car. My pride and joy, not just my mode of transportation but my most expensive possession. I call her "Lady." She may not be flashy but she is all mine. She was covered and I mean covered in post-it notes. Over $20 worth of post-it notes. I stopped counting at 500. It took me over an hour and 15 minutes to pick up the mess. Plus it was so hot and sunny at 8:30am that I got a farmers tan on my feet!!!

I thought the post-it note prank was funny! The young people I work with at the church didn't do it to be mean....I don't think so.

I use post-it notes to write down important things; things I don't want to forget. So maybe the prank was the youths way of saying that I am important to them. What we do is important to them. It is important to me.

Of all the things that I do each day the most important thing is to send up a post-it to God through prayer. Telling the Lord the important things on my heart. Sometimes it takes time to post something to the Lord. It could take over an hour and fifteen minutes, be about something silly or you can just get straight to the point. Just post-it! The Lord is waiting to hear from you.
